China Studies of Personal Interaction

( Beijing/Yantai/Xi'an/Guilin/Shanghai 14 days/13 nights )

1. Beijing
Arrival in Beijing and transfer to hotel. Brief city tour if time permits.
2. Beijing
Full day excursion to the Great Wall and Ming Tombs. After dinner, enjoy a Peking Opera performance.
3. Beijing
An extensive city tour includes the Forbidden City, Tian An Men Square, the Summer Palace and Temple of Heaven. In the evening, you are the guests at Peking roast duck dinner.
4. Beijing-Yantai
Visit the Lama Temple before transfer to airport for flight to Yantai.
5.Yantai
Arrival in Yantai and coach to the fishing village -- Chulan Village. Welcome by Chulan villagers, meet host families and familiarize to the village. Visit the village school, attending classes. Lunch with host families. Go cycling in the afternoon. Learn to play Mahjiong and practice Chinese calligraphy. Stay at local families overnight.
6. Yantai
Breakfast with host families. Go rural trek and help farmers harvest crops, pick apples in the nearby land and garden. Picnic and free afternoon on the beach. After dinner with host families, learn how to make Chinese arts & crafts-papercuts, needlepoint tapestries and traditional Chinese paintings, etc.
7. Yantai
Breakfast with host families. Visit Yantai Art School, join Chinese students - visiting classes,
talking with the teachers and students, learn to rehearse Peking Opera and learn to play traditional Chinese musical instruments. After lunch with Chinese students, visit Yantai centennial winery. Bonfire party with the local students and young adults on the village beach after dinner.
8. Yantai-Xi'an
Leave Chulan village for the flight to historical Xi'an. Transfer to the hotel for two nights stay.
9.Xi'an
Full day sightseeing including the tomb of Emperor Qin Shi Huang, home of the world renowned Terra-cotta Warriors, Hua Qing Hot Springs, and Banpo Neolithic Museum, the earliest example of 'Yangshao culture'. Back in the city, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, an impressive fortress-like building housing translated Buddhist scriptures. In the evening, there is an optional dinner show of Tang dynasty music and dance.
10. Xian/Guilin
Morning tour of the Grand Mosque and the nearby Muslim quarter, where buildings in traditional Chinese style overlaid with Islamic decorative patterns can be seen. After a lunch at local restaurant, fly to Guilin, one of China's most beautiful spots that brings to life the classical scenery celebrated in Chinese paintings. Transfer to the hotel for two nights stay.
11.Guilin
In the morning take a leisurely cruise along the Li River, which winds its way through the pointed, craggy hills, rice paddies, limestone rock formations and be charmed by the romantic effects of mist and cloud. After lunch on boat, we spend the afternoon browsing Yangshuo's antique and craft stalls before visiting the stunning Gaotian township and its famous Banyan tree. Drive back to Guilin. In the evening, there is an optional boat trip to watch the cormorant fishing.
12.Guilin/Shanghai
Embark on a unique morning excursion to Yaoshan for a chair-lifted ride and some
magnificent views over the undulating hills around Guilin. In the afternoon, visit the
extraordinary underground caverns of Reed Flute Cave and Fubo Hill. Night flight to Shanghai.
13. Shanghai
City tour - a stroll along the Bund , Nanjing Road, visits to Jade Buddha Temple and Yu Garden. In the evening, you are free to explore the night of the city.
14. Shanghai/ Home
More city tour or shopping before transfer to airport for the flight to your home.
